Congratulations to our OKU Seniors who shined on Tuesday, May 6, at the Ninth Annual Night of Scholars and Champions sponsored by Patriot Auto Group and Bartlesville Radio.

Seven seniors: Darla Fesmire, Macyn Reiman, Grant Reeves, Connor Pierce, Brooklyn Allen, Bodee West and Tanner Dickson, were honored during the ceremony at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville.

Nathan Thompson, Bartlesville Radio News Director, told those gathered Oklahoma Union had the most students recognized at the event, out of the 12 schools represented in Nowata, Washington and Osage counties.

This year, 34 athletes and 18 scholars were honored and recognized for their achievements. Students recognized as the monthly scholars were nominated based on their academic performance, community leadership, volunteerism and moral integrity. Athletes were recognized each week during the school year for their outstanding achievements.

The highlight of the event came at the end of the night, when Darla Fesmire was named the 2025 Patriot Auto Student of the Year. The honor included a 2025 Hyundai Elantra SEL Sport car worth more than $25,000 plus the title, tax and tag paid. She also earned a $1,000 scholarship and a $500 gas card from Phillips 66.

Fesmire told the crowd she was shocked to win, and hoped her example will help encourage other students at Oklahoma Union.

Grant Reeves was the first runner-up for the student of the year honor. He received at $750 scholarship sponsored by Truity Credit Union.

Additionally, Fesmire and Reeves were honored as students of the month in November and February respectively.

Other scholars recognized as students of the month included Macyn Reiman (January); and Connor Pierce (March).

Brooklyn Allen was one of several students recognized as a ConocoPhillips STEM student.

Tanner Dickson and Bodee West were recognized as part of the athletes of the week.
