10.31.25 - Message From OKU Board of Education
Dear Oklahoma Union School Family,
As many of you know, Superintendent Brenda Taylor has recently announced her plans to step down at the end of this school year.
We are incredibly thankful for the years of experience and dedication Mrs. Taylor has provided Oklahoma Union. During her tenure, she has worked to provide new and exciting opportunities for students and staff. We wish her well in her next endeavors!
As we prepare for this transition, our board has approved a partnership with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association to help facilitate the search for our next superintendent.
Selecting the right superintendent for our schools and community is one of the most important roles we hold as locally elected school board members. With a team of experienced professionals helping us, we are confident that our board can select a superintendent who will continue Oklahoma Union's mission of Achieving, Believing, and Changing.
As we begin the search for our next superintendent, it is our top priority to hear from you! We would like to hear from you about the characteristics, qualities and experiences you value in a superintendent, ensuring that we select an education professional who reflects our district's goals, mission and ideals.
Parents, students, staff and community members are invited to participate in a brief, online survey beginning today, Friday, October 31. Located on the district's website - okunion.k12.ok.us - the survey will be available until Friday, Nov. 14.
OSSBA works with other school board associations throughout the country to ensure a competitive candidate pool. The non-profit organization has partnered with several Oklahoma school districts of all sizes to perform superintendent searches, including Miami, Bixby and Dewey.
OSSBA assists districts with advertising openings, recruiting potential candidates, furnishing an online application management system, and providing guidance and support throughout the search process.
Please know that throughout every step of the search process we will be thinking about what is best for our students, our staff and our community.
We hope you will take time to participate in the survey, and as always, thank you for your support of the Oklahoma Union Cougars!
Sincerely, Members of the Oklahoma Union Board of Education
